Lucia Velasquez

On March 31, 1988, in Scottsdale, Arizona Lucia Velasquez was born. Three years ago she moved to San Francisco for school and now resides in the part of town she refers to as “Tender Nob” (Lower Nob Hill).  At the Art Institute of California – San Francisco she is studying Fashion Marketing. Recently Velazquez did hair and make-up for a photo shoot that her friend Ting Sirivisasokul, who is a fashion designer, was putting together.

Her love for fashion and beauty was inspired by her mother who Velazquez grew up watching doing make-up for friends and clients. Aside from her mother, Velazquez’s other fashion inspiration is Mary Kate Olsen.  “I think it’s because I grew up watching her, her style is pretty cool!” Just by looking at her you can tell that Mary Kate-Olsen inspires her fashion.

“Right now my favorite color is black!”  Velazquez says which is apparent from her black-on-black outfits.  Currently she loves throwing on a pair of black tights and a cardigan.  Some of Velazquez’s favorite designers are Haider Ackermann, Anna Sui and Martin Margiela. Her favorite shops to shop at are Aritzia, Nordstrom’s, Bloomingdales, and Shotwell.

As of now, Velazquez is listening to Glass Candy, The Chromatics, and she has an undying love for classical music. She has been playing the violin since she was four-and-a-half. When Velazquez can find the time, she likes to go to the park and have picnics. While sitting and sipping on her wine (shh… don’t tell anyone!) Velazquez likes to people watch at the park. Her favorite local vacation spot is Sausalito and her not so local favorite is Brazil.

Velasquez is very interesting and has a vibrant fun loving attitude. As she talks she smiles with her eyes even when she’s quiet she’s smiling. She is definitely someone who can make a person feel better when they’re down.
